Dr. Paula Muñoz
Dr. Paula Muñoz is a compassionate, skilled, bilingual oral and maxillofacial surgeon dedicated to providing exceptional care to her patients.
Growing up in Sarasota, Florida, she went on to become a distinguished Robertson Scholar at both the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University, where she graduated with honors. She earned her dental degree at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine.
With a passion for research, Dr. Muñoz excelled at Columbia, winning several awards, including the prestigious Dr. Milton Schlesinger Award for Excellence in Research. She also contributed to Ebola, Zika, and dental research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Dr. Muñoz completed her oral and maxillofacial surgery residency training at Alameda Health System – Highland Hospital and served as Chief Resident in her final year. She participated in a cleft mission trip through Operation Smile in Ecuador. Her residency training provided full-scope experience, and she developed a particular interest in dentoalveolar surgery, outpatient sedation, benign pathology, bone grafting and implant surgery, maxillofacial trauma, orthognathic surgery, TMJ disorders, and cosmetic injectables.
Fluent in both English and Spanish, she is dedicated to serving the diverse needs of her community.
In her free time, Dr. Muñoz enjoys traveling, playing tennis, and cheering on the Tar Heels.
